Soil tillage is an essential part of soil management and one of biggest seasonal tasks for a farmer. Soil tillage is the procedure of mixing the soil to prepare it for planting. It has been extensively accepted as a chore that is almost as significant as harvest cycle in terms of crop quality and ease of growing. Different types of soil tillage include ploughing, stirring, and overturning of the land. Tilling help disperse nutrients by exposing soil to sunlight, water, and natural nutrients in the environment. What is Tillage Before we jump into the details of different types of tillage process, let us concisely discuss what tillage is and why it is common and primary practice. Soil Tilling is the process of turning soil to control weeds and pests to prepare the fields for seeding. Types of Tillage Different types of tillage process are followed by farmers as per the preference and land usage. There are majorly three types of tillage process that farmers follow. 1. Conventional Tillage Conventional tillage is the most intrusive and intensive form of soil tillage. Conventional tillage includes the use of plough or disc machines to loosen and turn the soil after harvesting to prepare the land for a new seedbed. In this process, the classic, distinctive rows of freshly churned soil are left behind on farmland. 2. Conservation Tillage Conservation tillage helps to prevent soil erosion by minimizing the disturbance of the soil. Conservation tillage works by leaving a few parts of old plant stalk to break down as organic matter to feed new plants while overturning upper layers of the soil. 3. Zero Tillage or No-till Zero tillage practices work likewise the conservation soil tillage but do not overturn any soil or dig as deep to plant new crops. The zero-till practices are done with zero till equipment or disc seed drills to reduce soil erosion by up to ninety-five as compared to conventional soil tillage practice. There are numerous ways to accomplish soil tillage that includes handwork by shovel, hoe, or rakes, for smaller areas like gardens. Then there are some tilling equipment like mould board plough, disc plough, rotavator or rotary tiller, sub-soilers, cultivator, power harrow, power tiller, disc harrow etc. that help farmers and their crews to plough large farms. Fieldking offers the farming equipment to serve the needs of all types of soil tillage and to accommodate every farmer’s preference. Whether someone needs a mould-board plough, disc plough, planters, disc seed drills, or any other farm equipment they have what you need. This highly efficient tillage equipment with other farm equipment supports the agricultural business and farmers.

A combine harvester is very useful farm machinery for harvesting, winnowing, and threshing rice, corn, wheat, sunflower, pulses, and other crops in the field. Harvesting crops in one operational process can save time as well as human labour cost, and bringing down the work costs. Additionally, these machines can increase agricultural productivity as the harvesting is carried out more efficiently, making farming more profitable. How does it work? The key feature of a combine harvester is the detachable header platform that has shears to cut crops and a revolving cylinder to gather the cut crops into the auger. The header platform can be of a standard or specialized. Various header platforms are used to harvest various types of crops often. Uses of Combine Harvesters in India Small combine harvesters are suitable for the Indian agricultural conditions, where farm sizes are somewhat small and landscape types can differ considerably. Combine harvesters price can be approximately twenty lakhs or more, and this makes taking them out of the reach of many small farmers. The Indian government presently offers subsidies of up to forty percent of the purchase price to encourage farmers to purchase harvester in India. Even with such available subsidies though, these farm machines may still be too expensive for many farmers with comparatively small land-holdings. It may make more sense for farmers in India that are unable to buy farm machines, to hire combine harvesters from agents when they need them. Usually, farmers need the combine harvesters during the harvest season, and so if they hire them for a short period, they don’t have to bear the maintenance costs of the machines. Farmers often pull small tractors on top of combine harvesters in India with cranes to use and drive the harvesters to increase efficiency. In India combine harvester sale is still small when compared to tractor sales. This means that unlike tractors, where farmers shop around for many types of models for different purposes, only a limited number of models of combine harvester are available, and most of these are quite expensive to buy for many farmers in India. Also, if we talk about these in terms of advertising, they do not yet receive that much publicity that tractors get in India. Combine harvester manufacturers in India have been expanding into other agricultural machines, also exporting their products to different other countries. Choosing between new and used farm equipment can be a tough decision to make for a farmer. With the rapidly growing farm equipment market many agricultural machinery manufacturers introduce new technologies everyday and equipment that was developed around even 5 years ago seems old, as it may not have that specific feature you require to stay competitive in the current agriculture marketplace. Even the costs associated with the maintenance or adding a new feature in the current equipment to stay updated with technology can be the same or might go beyond the cost of newly introduced equipment. Thus buying new equipment or buying used equipment with the latest technology can be a good choice or not, depends on your requirement. These are a few points to keep in mind before making a purchase decision
Whether you buy new or used equipment, always chose the farm equipment from a known and reputed manufacturer or brand as the service centres for branded equipment are easier to find. Also, the parts and technicians are available easily in case of any breakdown. |
