Soil Tilling is an old and essential practice that is required to prepare a seedbed, landscape or land to make a farm by breaking up the soil. It improves soil structure by allowing better air circulation and water flow into it. A Rotary tiller or Rotavator is one of the most important pieces of agricultural machinery that allows modifying the hard soil giving it a smooth structure to make a suitable seedbed by mixing it the until the soil becomes fine enough for planting seeds. Farmers need to choose a rotavator as per the type of job. A mini rotavator can be operated on two wheels and is suitable to prepare gardens. For large farms and other large landscaping projects mostly robust series rotavators are they need to take power from the PTO shaft on small, medium or heavy-duty tractors. How it Works The rotating blades are also known as rotors attached to the rotating shaft of a rotavator dig the soil that takes power from the Tractor’s PTO. The tilling depth can also be adjusted as per the requirement when using a rotavator, however, the ideal depth for tilling should not be more than six inches. When choosing a rotavator size make sure the width of the rotary tiller should be equal to outer width of your tractor tires. For best soil tillage practices, make sure to overlap the tilled soil in each pass. Once the soil is loosened properly, if required the depth and speed for tilling can be increased accordingly. You can continue to make passes until all the clods are removed and the soil is losses to the required depth of 4 – 6 inches. The benefit of using Rotary Tiller
Safety Instructions when Using a Rotavator A rotavator needs to be operated carefully on uneven lands. Be careful of rollover possibility and ensure the safety equipment is installed perfectly and positioned accordingly. Avoid hitting too hard objects like rocks while tilling in any trashy area. Do not try to adjust the rotors or remove debris on the running machine.
